Charles is a southern California native, growing up in Compton, California he attended Longfellow Elementary, Walton Middle School (then it was Walton Jr. High) and Compton Sr. High School. Charles is the founding and lead pastor of Light & Life West. He and Carolyn, along with about 80 lifers (core team member in for the long haul) and a host of faithful supporters, started the church September 14, 2003 with 9am & 11am services.
Charles received an Associates Degree in Christian Education from Boyce Bible College in Louisville, KY, a BA degree in Christian Ministry from Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, KY and a MA degree in Pastoral Studies: Church Development from Haggard School of Theology, Azusa Pacific University.
Charles has served as pastoral staff in churches in Louisville, Houston and Long Beach. Charles and Carolyn married in August of 2000. Carolyn has a rich history of her work and walk in the Lord. She has served in churches since her youth and has contributed her gifts in the areas of music and women's ministries.
Carolyn has a BS in Psychology from UC Irvine and works with the Superior Court for the State of California. Carolyn sings on the Worship Team and also assists in leading worship. When she is not singing, she gives leadership to W.O.W. (Women of West) - discipling women and equipping women to disciple other women. Carolyn also assists Pastor Charles in the Pulpit.
Most of all, Charles and Carolyn are the proud parents of three dynamic children: Candyce (Graduate of Xavier University in New Orleans), Jaymar (currently attending and playing football for University of New Mexico) and Christopher (currently being discipled and coached by his parents for his purpose in life and who also participates in various sports).
